UPDATE 6/13/08 - 10:36 AM CST
Everything should be fine now. I have done what I can to keep the video server up for another day or two, which will be good enough to keep us going until the dedicated server is good to go. We will be moving to the dedicated video server by tomorrow, and the dedicated web server will be up by Monday. So resume watching your favorite vids! I'll have a detailed post on what is and was going on later tonight. Also Ask That Guy A Question premieres tonight! (hopefully around 11PM CST)

Thanks to the AVGN video our video server has been brought to it's knees, and is down for the count! We're were received over 2000 new unique users in the matter of a few hours, to go with the 7000 visitors we have had up until that point. Each new user was viewing on average 9 videos. Around 1:00 PM CST, I received an email from our video host stating that they would begin throttling our connections, thus the videos not playing or playing horribly slow, is the result that you now see.

So, what does this mean for everyone? We'll we all had a meeting and decided that we would be moving this site to dedicated servers. We will have one server set up for just the videos, and have another setup to house the website. Before this move I (admin) have been paying the server costs out of my own pocket (around $100-200) a month, and moving to the dedicated servers brings that cost up to about $1600 a month; which is something that I can no longer afford.

So what does that mean? This 'new' company is going to be moving forward much much quicker than we have wanted it too. We will be tapping into our private investor pool to pay for Doug's site (this site), and will be registering the company in the next week. In the coming months, we will be going to Angel Investors, and hopefully will get everything taken care of by the end of the summer. With everything taken care of, we will finally have our own location to begin making sets for old and new shows alike. As I have stated before this new company will have over 90 different shows (each with season lengths from 10 episode to weekly) of numerous genres. After we register everything, I will slowly begin to talk about all these new shows that we have planned. ThatGuyWithTheGlasses.com in all honesty houses about 1% of the content that we have planned for this company. Trust us, it's going to be huge!

We hope to have the move to the new servers done by late tomorrow, or Early Sunday. With that some of the fixes, and new features that I plan to add to the site will be postponed a bit.

Ask That Guy A Question: Episode 1 - may be up tomorrow night (depending on what happens with the servers)
A New NC will still hopefully be up on Sunday
A New 5 Second Movie will hopefully be up on Monday

I'll keep all of you updated with what is going on.

I found this site from the AVGN site actually myself. Your videos are quite good, though due to heavy load of traffic to the site, the videos didn't load fast (which you already know about). I saw them on youtube though and it was awesome! I wish you would stick to one account on youtube. o.o

I want to see how long this feud goes on between you and the AVGN. Maybe in the future after that dies (if it dies) you'll have a feud with other people.

I remember finding NC by searching for the AVGN on YouTube. Both excellent reviewers. I was wondering why I couldn't get any videos to load.

But this is all great news. Can't wait for Ask That Guy Episode.

Wow, almost all of NCs accounts/videos were found and removed.

The (most probable) Reason: All of the retarded fanboys that follow AVGN. They somehow didn't see the BIG ASS SATIRE WARNING CLAUSES IN AVGNs vid so they went and flaged all of NCs stuff in retaliation.

hopefully you guys work out everything because I feel nostalgia critic is fing hilarious and cant get enough of it. so once you are squared away and you become popular enough you can have your own show on TV lol. anyway the AVGN video was on his cinemassacre account and suprisingly positive though some said he was a ripoff but no he really isnt. they bother deserve their attention. The only one that doesnt is irate gamer LOL.

A group claiming to be the producers of Pokemon, Shogakukan Production Co. Ltd., appear to be responsible for having him banned.

His video was Fair Use criticism/parody/satire, and was an abuse of the DMCA.

I personally think that it was someone posing as the producers of Pokemon, since the timing is just so close. After all, YouTube has a history of allowing teenagers to pretend like they are companies, removing hundreds of videos with fraudulent DMCA claims.

It's unfortunate that this site will suffer (since many YouTubers are dumb as bricks and will assume Nostalgia Critic is dead forever, since there is no life beyond YouTube), but at least you'll gain new viewers from the AVGN plug.

For god's sake, James had six disclaimers IN THE VIDEO and the retard fans still went and pulled this stunt..

Good luck with the site. Hopefully the idiot fans don't maliciously attack this site as well.

I hope to create a video site of my own, someday. I am a reviewer as well, which means my Fair Use vigilantism days are numbered on YouTube.

Would bandwidth usage still go sky high if I had a simplistic site with revver or YouTube embeds rather than hosting the videos myself? I didn't think it would cost that much to run a site in this format, but it looks like I'm very wrong.

I'm also looking to move my domain and webhosting to any site that has a reputation of saying, "SCREW YOU" to any company that files fraudulent copyright claims.

This site (just the website - no videos) uses about 6-10 gigabytes a day in bandwidth (were averaging about 8000 visitors a day) All our videos are on another server which is doing anywhere from 300-400 gigabytes a day in bandwidth.

Using Revver will eliminate the majority of the bandwidth.

This site is growing everyday, and has gotten to the point where we have outgrown shared hosting. (this site is spread across 3 servers right now)

I'm hoping that James himself will come out and speak against what his "fans" did to the videos on YouTube.

I mean, he brought alot of traffic to your site, but his fanboys need to be taught how to allow other reviewers to exist.

Plus, I think NC has stayed fresh better over the years. I think James has been on a slump with his AVGN character since the Atari review, but NC seems to stay on top of his game.

Is the new server up early today or are people just leaving the old server alone now? Videos are coming down very quickly now.

The 1st one is ready, but now up yet. The second one is being ordered tonight. I did some patchwork on the old video server to keep it alive for another day.

I really hope that idiot AVGN fans didn't actually do that to NC on YouTube. That really fucking infuriates me. I mean, if it is, then they obviously saw that AVGN had about half a dozen disclaimers in his video about it being a satire, so how fucking dumb can they be? Jesus, some people really piss me off.

AVGN and NC are both awesome. Deal with it.

Anyways, I was more than surprised to see that AVGN finally responded. That is actually pretty sweet, and good to see that TGWTG got a boost in publicity.

I was surfing Youtube last week and found the NC. Thank god for that because he has now become one of my favorite people to watch. Hope all the server business goes well cause there are still a few videos of yours I have to watch. Also good luck with everything! Love the Harry Potter book 7 video it was fucking hilarious!
